Bellvale Pinot Noir 2005

The 2005 Pinot Noir was made using traditional methods, including a cold soak of the crushed grapes prior to fermentation, hand-plunging of the ferment and a short period of extended maceration after the fermentation finished. A small proportion of stalks were added to the ferment. The wine was then matured in new and used French oak barriques from a range of the highest quality coopers. The wine will gain fragrance and complexity in the bottle until at least 2009.

Colour – Light to medium bright red, with a trace of purple.
Nose – Shows a mix of red currants and red cherries, with an aromatic herbal quality from grape stalks in the ferment. Subtle French oak adds spices.
Palate – Fine and supple, with red fruits and sappy flavours. Fine tannins, with stalks providing more weight on the finish.
