Bellvale Pinot Noir 2004

The 2004 Pinot Noir was made using traditional methods, including a cold soak of the crushed grapes prior to fermentation, hand-plunging of the ferment and a period of extended maceration after the fermentation finished. A small proportion of stalks were added to the ferment. The wine was then matured in new and used French oak barriques from a range of the highest quality coopers.

Colour – Bright red, with hints of purple.
Nose – Fragrant, with red cherries and redcurrants. French oak adds subtle overtones of vanilla and nutmeg.
Palate – Medium-bodied and stylish, with ripe flavours of red fruits, and a firm but fine tannin structure. The wine will gain further complexity in the bottle until at least 2009.
